The Forgotten by Native American Artist Weeya Calif
This piece represents all the things as Native people we do not want to forget yet others have. They have forgotten to take care of the land, our Earth Mother represented in the landscape. They have forgotten to take care of the water represented in the blue of the blanket. They have forgotten our murdered and missing women which is represented in the red of the blanket. They have forgotten our ancestors. Our ancestors is represented in the gray of her hair. And last but not least they have forgotten the murdered children who were buried at residential schools in mass graves. We remember these children using the color orange.
