Storytelling tonight at Lawerence University.
Come enjoy traditional stories if you can.
I hope to see you there.
Rock Your Mocs
Rock Your Mocs was established sometime around 2011. It is celebrated as a Native American & Indigenous Peoples event held annually and during November National Native American Heritage Month in the U.S.A.
Native/Indigenous People wear their moccasins, take a photo, create a video or story during this time. They like to add the hashtag #ROCKYOURMOCS and upload to social media.
The dates for the year 2023 are November 12 - 18th.
I invite all Native/Indigenous People, their families and friends to help us celebrate who we are by wearing your moccasins on November 15th.
Here are some other things you can do during the week:
-wear a ribbon skirt
-wear a ribbon shirt
-wear your hair in a traditional style
-eat traditional foods
-sing traditional songs
-read up on our people and their history
-share our traditional stories

This month I have two art shows I am participating in. One was at SAGE. It was a great event for Native Artist. Two of my pieces were shown, of which one of the pieces was purchased by a bank that is being built nearby. They also commissioned me to make two more pieces. My other show, is of my work only and it's at the Pablo. The reception is this weekend and I am excited about the showing. Two pieces have sold from this show as well.
I am currently working with a storyteller mentee. She is a great storyteller and I will help her with sound affects and motions to add more to her storytelling. We are also working together to create a coloring book for each of us that tells one of our traditional stories. We will end our mentorship with a storytelling event where we will give out copies of our coloring books to the audience. It is going to be a lot of fun.
I am also working on teaching digital art classes in my community. I have had several meeting with different organizations and hope to begin in January. This is a great opportunity for our youth and myself as well. This blog is a new thing for me. I am not sure I will keep it going. But I will see where it takes me.
